Staging workflow

Test WordPress changes in a safer staging copy.

Create a noindexed same-server clone in a subdirectory, test risky changes away from production, then use a separate migration or Pro Sync workflow when the work is approved.

How it works

A safer workflow from start to finish

1

Create the staging copy

Clone the site into a noindexed subdirectory on the same server and database host.

2

Test away from production

Update plugins, change designs and verify workflows without modifying the public site.

3

Move changes deliberately

The staging tool does not push to live. Use a separate migration or Pro Sync transfer, protect production first, and verify the result.

Why it matters

Built for real WordPress constraints

Clear scope

Free staging is same-server and subdirectory-only, so you know exactly what it will create.

Search-safe by default

The staging clone is marked noindex to reduce the risk of test pages appearing in search.

Separate production controls

Every Pro plan adds full and selective source-to-destination Sync; it is not an automatic two-way merge.

Common questions

Know before you move

Does the free staging tool push to production?

No. Free staging creates a noindexed clone on the same server in a subdirectory. Moving approved changes back to production is a separate migration or Pro Sync workflow.

What does Pro Sync add?

Every Pro plan can connect two WordPress sites and run full or selective source-to-destination transfers. It is not a two-way merge, so protect the destination before syncing.

Is the site connection private?

Connected sites communicate over HTTPS using signed requests. Transfer data does not require an Easy WP Migration relay.

Make the next WordPress move repeatable.

Start with the free migration workflow. Add cloud automation, restore verification and controlled site-to-site Sync when the job demands it.
